In this list of 50 great world leaders, published by Fortune magazine, Ms. Koofi is in 40th place.<\/p>\n

Fawzia Koofi, a politician and women’s rights activist, was born in Badakhshan province. She has served two terms as a representative of the people of Badakhshan in the Afghan House of Representatives and has been active in passing important laws, including the law on the harassment of women and children in Afghanistan.<\/p>\n
