{"id":1364,"date":"2021-12-05T07:21:20","date_gmt":"2021-12-05T08:21:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shahed.news\/en\/?p=1364"},"modified":"2021-12-05T07:21:20","modified_gmt":"2021-12-05T08:21:20","slug":"joint-intl-statement-issued-over-concerns-of-hrw-findings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shahed.news\/en\/2021\/12\/05\/joint-intl-statement-issued-over-concerns-of-hrw-findings\/","title":{"rendered":"Joint Intl Statement Issued Over Concerns of HRW Findings"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div class=\"related-post clearfix view view-article-single view-id-article_single view-display-id-article_body js-view-dom-id-c144d0c8c8fb7021665658d1e1032cefdfeba4c2edda24cf7037cde1f39e4ea6\">\n<div class=\"view-content\">\n<div class=\"views-row\">\n<div class=\"entry-summary clearfix\">\n<div class=\"views-field views-field-field-article-body-summary-1 full-html-text\">\n<p><strong>The governments of the United States, European Union, and 20 other countries in a joint statement on Saturday expressed their concerns over the \u201csummary killings and enforced disappearance\u201d in Afghanistan reported by the Human Rights Watch HRW.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The joint statement is released by the United States of America, Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Denmark, the European Union, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>The countries said that they are concerned by the findings of the HRW report about the alleged killings and disappearances of former members of the Afghan security forces.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe underline that the alleged actions constitute serious human rights abuses and contradict the Taliban\u2019s announced amnesty,\u201d the statement reads.<\/p>\n<p>The statement also has called on the Islamic Emirate to enforce the amnesty for former Afghan security forces and government officials and ensure that it is upheld across the country by all their file and ranks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cReported cases must be investigated promptly and in a transparent manner, those responsible must be held accountable, and these steps must be clearly publicized as an immediate deterrent to further killings and disappearances,\u201d reads the statement.<\/p>\n<p>The countries have said they will continue to judge the Taliban by their actions.<\/p>\n<p>The Islamic Emirate responded to the joint statement&#8211;and the HRW report to which the statement refers&#8211;saying the allegations of the killings of former security forces are not true and the Islamic Emirate is ready to cooperate with any kind of investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Inamullah Samangani, deputy spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, said: \u201cWe reject the claims about killings of the former administration security forces. There is no evidence for it.\u201d\u00a0He added: &#8220;People should speak responsibly on international platforms and cite evidence, not make claims based on rumor and propaganda.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In late November, HRW in a report said \u201cmore than 100 Afghan former security members&#8221; in the four provinces of Kandahar, Helmand, Ghazni and Kunduz were \u201ckilled or disappeared\u201d in less than three months since the collapse of the former government.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Taliban leadership\u2019s promised amnesty has not stopped local commanders from summarily executing or disappearing former Afghan security force members,\u201d said Patricia Gossman, associate Asia director of the Human Rights Watch. \u201cThe burden is on the Taliban to prevent further killings, hold those responsible to account, and compensate the victims\u2019 families.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Islamic Emirate, however, rejected the report and said if HRW has any documents and proof, it can share it with the Islamic Emirate to arrest those responsible for the killings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe reject this report, if they own documents proving the issue, they can share them with us so we can arrest and legally act against the criminals. The Islamic Emirate never chased or killed former security forces.
