{"id":1466,"date":"2026-07-28T09:40:37","date_gmt":"2026-07-28T09:40:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shahed.news\/en\/?p=1466"},"modified":"2026-07-28T09:40:37","modified_gmt":"2026-07-28T09:40:37","slug":"unama-137-people-flogged-over-a-three-month-period","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shahed.news\/en\/2026\/07\/28\/unama-137-people-flogged-over-a-three-month-period\/","title":{"rendered":"UNAMA: 137 people flogged over a three-month period"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) says the Taliban have continued to carry out corporal punishment in recent months without making public announcements, flogging 137 people over a three-month period.<\/p>\n<p>In its latest report, covering April, May, and June 2026, UNAMA said its Human Rights Service documented the corporal punishment of 137 individuals, including 112 men and 25 women, between April 1 and June 30.<\/p>\n<p>According to UNAMA, the Taliban have stopped publicly announcing the implementation of corporal punishment since April 22. Unlike in the past, no related statements have been published on the Taliban Supreme Court&#8217;s website or social media pages.<\/p>\n<p>However, UNAMA&#8217;s Human Rights Service confirmed that, after April 22, Taliban primary courts and district authorities in several provinces continued to carry out corporal punishment.<\/p>\n<p>According to the UN mission&#8217;s report, witnesses in some cases said the number of people present during the implementation of corporal punishment was &#8220;limited&#8221; and mainly consisted of court officials.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) says the Taliban have continued to carry out corporal punishment in recent months without making public announcements, flogging 137 people over a three-month period.
