Former Deputy Minister of Urban Development was sentenced to prison for embezzlement.

The Supreme Court announced that Khatera Sadat, a former deputy finance and administration minister at the Ministry of Urban Development, and five others had been sentenced to prison for embezzlement and fraud.

Ahmad Fahim Qawim, a spokesman for the department, said that the primary court for investigating serious crimes of corruption had issued this sentence in a public court session yesterday.

Mr. Qawim said that Khatera Sadat, former deputy finance and administration minister at the Ministry of Urban Development, Mohammad Naser, finance and accounting specialist and Zabihullah, senior financial officer at Ministry of Urban Development, were each sentenced to four years and eight months in prison.
