Fawzia Koofi has been named one the world’s top 50 leaders by Fortune magazine

Fawzia Koofi, a member of Afghanistan’s peace negotiation team and a former representative of the people of Badakhshan province in Wolesi Jirga (Parliament), has been named one the world’s top 50 leaders by Fortune magazine

In this list of 50 great world leaders, published by Fortune magazine, Ms. Koofi is in 40th place.

“I only consider myself a leader when my country and its people live in the peace and tranquility I strive for,” Ms. Koofi tweeted in her twitter.
However, in the midst of Afghanistan’s problems, this is encouraging news.

Fawzia Koofi, a politician and women’s rights activist, was born in Badakhshan province. She has served two terms as a representative of the people of Badakhshan in the Afghan House of Representatives and has been active in passing important laws, including the law on the harassment of women and children in Afghanistan.

Fawzia Koofi also won the “Casa Asia”Award for “Diversity and Sustainable Development” last year.
