Marshal Dostum in a meeting with Ghani: “Military status” to be declared.

President Ghani met with Marshal Abdul Rashid Dostum, former Vice President and leader of the National Islamic Movement of Afghanistan.

The Presidential Palace says that the meeting took place today, “Saturday, August 7” at the Presidential Palace.
Arg said that during the meeting, the general security situation in the country, especially the security situation in the northern provinces, was discussed.

“It is time to work with the security and defense forces to improve the security situation in the country and to defend the values, and to stand up to the enemy,” Marshal Dostum was quoted as saying by the presidential palace.

Meanwhile, Ehsan Niroo, spokesman for the National Islamic Movement of Afghanistan, said Mr Dostum had suggested that a “military situation” be declared in the country. Dostum said that the “military situation” should be announced at a large meeting with political leaders in one of the commando units.

According to Niroo, Marshal Dostum has called on President Ghani to convene an emergency security meeting as soon as possible, which will also include the Secretary of Defense, the National Security Adviser and the commanders of US forces. Dostum also called for air support from US forces in northern Afghanistan.
