Ministry of Defense: At least 572 Taliban fighters were killed over last 24 hour

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) announced on Sunday (August 8) that at least 572 Taliban fighters had been killed in security operations in 18 provinces overnight.

According to the Ministry of Defense, at least 309 other Taliban have been wounded as a result of clashes and counter-attacks by security forces.

A number of Taliban were killed and wounded in Nangarhar, Laghman, Ghazni, Paktia, Paktika, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Herat, Farah, Jawzjan, Sar-e-Pul, Faryab, Helmand, Nimroz, Takhar, Kunduz, Badakhshan and Kapisa provinces.

According to the Ministry of Defense, a large amount of weapons and ammunition of the Taliban have been destroyed.

The Taliban have not yet commented.

The Taliban have increased their attacks on a number of cities in the country overnight. The group claims to have seized the capitals of Jawzjan, Sar-e-Pul, Kunduz and Nimroz provinces.
