Afghanistan Ranked the Worst Country in the World for Children for the Third Consecutive Year
According to the 2026 KidsRights Index report, Afghanistan ranked last among 194 countries worldwide and has been identified as the worst country in the world for children for the third consecutive year.
The report, prepared by the Dutch organization KidsRights in cooperation with Erasmus University Rotterdam, was published yesterday (Wednesday, June 24).
The report assesses children’s well-being based on indicators such as life, health and healthcare, education, protection, enabling environment, and climate change. Afghanistan, with a score of 0.214, was ranked as the worst country in the world and in South Asia for children.
