Former President Hamid Karzai speaking at a meeting on “Kabul Peace Symposium” on Monday, June 10, that negotiations would be concluded sooner if peace emerged from the status quo of a project and became a national process.
Mr. Karzai says peace in Afghanistan has not yet been finalized because it is a “foreign project”.
The former president stressed that Afghanistan will achieve peace when peace is transformed from a foreign project into a national process.
On the other hand, Hamid Karzai called on government and the Taliban to advance peace talks inside Afghanistan. He spoke of Bamyan, Nuristan, Panjshir, Nangarhar and Uruzgan as the provinces where the talks will take place.
“Let us make peace our national process, build it and build it on our soil,” Mr Karzai said in part. We have a place where the Tahreek-e-Islami Taliban and our government tell us to go to Bamyan. We have a good hotel there and the weather is good. “People do not need air conditioning.”
